Tasmania Companion Card

Overview

The Tasmanian Companion Card is available to people who require a companion to attend community facilities, activities and events. This card allows the holder to receive a free second ticket for their companion carer from participating businesses and organisations on presentation of card.

The Companion Card is part of a national program and can be used interstate. Generally, businesses (including tours, attractions, public transport and accommodation) in one state will usually recognise cards from another.

Eligibility

Tasmanian residents may be eligible for the Companion Card if they meet the following criteria:

  • Demonstrate they have a permanent disability.
  • Due to the impact of their disability, require significant attendant care support to participate at most community facilities, activities and events.

The companion Card is not issued to every person with a disability and people on NDIS plans are not automatically eligible.
