TasEquip provides a range of assistive technology (equipment) to eligible Tasmanians to support their ongoing independence or care within our community, and also to transition home from acute care or to access required education settings.

The equipment includes items such as shower chairs, walking aids, adjustable height seats, hoists, wheelchairs, and electric wheelchairs. Access to TasEquip resources is by a prescribing therapist only. This is to ensure that the most appropriate equipment to meet the client’s clinical need is supplied.

To be eligible, clients need to meet the following criteria:

  • permanent Tasmanian resident, and have a
  • Centrelink Health Care Card or Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card, and be living in the community, and be
  • ineligible for Home Care Package level 3 or 4, Workers Compensation, MAIB, DVA* or NDIS**.

* DVA Health Card holders should contact DVA to check their potential eligibility.

Contact the NDIS for all repair, replacement and modification to any disability related equipment, even if that equipment was originally sourced from TasEquip. If you are under the age of 65 and have a disability it is essential that you contact the NDIS to determine your eligibility.

You can contact the National Disability Insurance Agency, (NDIA) on 1800 800 110 or enquiries@ndis.gov.au. They can provide advice about eligibility for the NDIS, how to access the scheme or answer any questions about an NDIS plan.
