Premier Lara GiddingsHelping Tasmanians in need to deal with rising living costs is one of the State Government's key priorities.

We provide a wide range of concessions to reduce the cost of government services and charges, with a particular focus on assisting people on low or fixed incomes.

The Tasmanian Government Discounts and Concessions Guide lists discounts and savings available on a wide range of services in areas such as housing, transport, electricity, heating, education and health services.

One of the biggest issues for many Tasmanians right now is rising electricity prices. To help, I am pleased to advise that the electricity concession will keep pace with the agreed increases in energy prices. This will mean that the impact of electricity price increases will be reduced for people on low incomes by about $450 in 2012-13.

The Guide also includes information about concessions on the cost of activities in the community that encourage Tasmanians to see more of their State including our National Parks and the Port Arthur Historic Site.

I encourage you to take advantage of the discounts and concessions detailed in the Guide and to check the website at www.concessions.tas.gov.au for updates or changes through the year.
