Adult bus travel concession

Concession details

An adult concession fare for bus travel is available to people who hold a:

  • DHS or DVA Pensioner Concession Card, including DVA war widows
  • DHS Health Care Card
  • Seniors Card - all states and territories
  • ESI or RDI ImmiCard

or are:

  • aged 70 years and over

In urban areas adult concessions are a flat rate of $2.40.

In non-urban areas adult concessions are 50 percent of the full adult fare. There is also a further 20 per cent discount available for both urban and non-urban adult concessions passengers using a smart card or bulk purchase of tickets.


Free travel is available for people who:

  • Tasmania Police officers
    applies upon showing a Tasmanian Police badge.
  • Ambulance officers
    applies to Ambulance Tasmania and St John Ambulance Officers in uniform.
  • Companion card
    Free travel applies to the cardholder’s companion while the cardholder pays the fare for which they are entitled.
  • Vision impairment travel passFree travel applies to the cardholder, guide dog and attendant.
  • TPI and EDA pensioners
    (TPI and EDA pensioners need to present a current Goldcard issued by DVA in the name of the passenger, and embossed with TPI or EDA). Passengers travelling on Metro Tasmania services need to apply for a Greencard for free travel.
